ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 2004--Nissan North
America, Inc. (NNA) invited its new neighbors to a grand opening event at
the automaker's new Southeast Region headquarters located in the Vinings
area of Atlanta. Nissan is celebrating this afternoon with a reception, a
donation to two local charities, tours of the new facilities, and a ribbon
cutting ceremony that will include state and local leaders from Cobb
County.
"Cobb County and Atlanta have welcomed us with open arms and we are
proud to be part of this great community," said Patrick Doody, regional
vice president of NNA's Southeast Region. "We feel this location will
afford us a great opportunity to grow the Nissan brand and we look forward
to a long and prosperous future in Atlanta."
Nissan moved its Southeast Region Headquarters from Jacksonville,
Florida to Atlanta after an extensive study and reevaluation of its
operational needs. The new region offices will provide sales, marketing,
and service support for Nissan automotive dealers throughout the
southeastern part of the United States.
"I welcome Nissan's decision to locate their Southeast Region
headquarters in Atlanta," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "Our transportation
infrastructure, including Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the
Savannah and Brunswick ports, and a skilled workforce make Georgia an
ideal location for the automobile industry."
The new 21,000 square foot offices will serve as headquarters for 42
employees plus 12 field personnel. The Southeast Region supports more than
150 dealers in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, as well as
western North Carolina, middle Tennessee, and several dealers in Kentucky.
"Nissan North America's Southeast Region Headquarters will have an
impact far beyond the 50 jobs it brings," said Craig Lesser, Commissioner,
Georgia Department of Economic Development. "Nissan, one of the trend
setters of the automotive world, raises the profile of Georgia as the
'go-to' location for today's automotive industry."
"The Cobb Chamber of Commerce is proud that Nissan chose Cobb County to
call home," said Gary Davis, Chairman, Cobb Chamber of Commerce. "It is
companies of this stature that represent the best in business."
