Tuesday's Tour & Tip
Better Schools Slated for Smyrna Area! There are a great number of parents that love our area of town, and would love to also send their children to a great public school. There are obviously many great private schools to choose from in the area, but many parents do not want to incur the cost. Therefore, instead of moving or paying for private school, we are opening a Charter School in the Mableton area. This will be available for any Cobb County resident. There was a meeting this past Thursday night at Vinings Estates to explain to the community what a Charter School is, what it will take to get one started and what it will mean for our community and children. The meeting was phenomenal and the energy in the room was contagious. The proposed curriculum is similar to that of the Atlanta International School. Parental involvement will be the key to making this school a success. This will be a public
school that is privately funded. This means that you do not pay tuition. The company funding the school - Imagine - gets money from the state as well as their own pockets. This school is not meant to compete with or replace our existing public school, but instead it is intended to offer something different to the families in the community. This school will have an international baccalaureate curriculum and will require parent involvement. The school is projected to open August 2007 and will be Pre-K – 8.
